Peterborough native and ConVal graduate Allegra Hyde has recently published her first book of short stories that has been greeted with enthusiastic accolades. Of This New World, an anthology of short stories examining different aspects of utopianism, won the John Simmons Iowa Short Fiction Award. Starting in the Garden of Eden and ending in colony on Mars, Hyde tackles questions about whether or not paradise is truly possible.

Allegra graduated from ConVal in 1996, received a B.A. in American Studies from Williams in 2010, and an MFA in Writing from Arizona State University in 2015. She has been the winner of a Pushcart Prize and the recipient of several grants including from the U.S. Fulbright Commission.

She will be sharing her work and greeting old friends at the Monadnock Center for History and Culture on December 3 rd at 2:00 p.m.
