As winter approaches, towns are prepared to respond to snow events. And part of that preparation is ensuring that roads remain clear to allow for plowing.
With the potential for snow starting in November, several towns have implemented winter parking bans, forbidding overnight parking on public streets. The purpose of winter bans is to allow maintenance crews unobstructed snow removal and ice control routes at the most effective rate. If a town implements a parking ban, it has the right to tow or ticket violators.
The following towns have implemented bans:
Bennington: Nov. 1 through May 1, between the hours of 11 p.m. and 7 a.m.
Greenfield: Nov. 1 through April 1, between the hours of 11 p.m. and 6 a.m.
Greenville: Nov. 1 through April 31, between the hours of 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
Francestown: Nov. 1 through April 1, so as not to impede snow removal.
Lyndeborough: Nov. 1 through April 1, so as not to impede snow removal.
Peterborough: Nov. 1 through April 1, between the hours of 11 p.m. and 6 a.m.
Rindge: Nov. 1 through April 1, so as not to impede snow removal
Jaffrey: Nov. 1 through April 15, between the hours of 11 p.m. and 6 a.m.
