The northbound lane of Grove Street will be temporarily closed between Route 101 and Laurel Street in Peterborough.

Work on a utility manhole that houses Fairpoint wires means drivers must circumnavigate the intersection by taking Granite Street or Hatch Street to exit Route 101 and head downtown.

โ€œIf all goes well โ€“ knock on wood โ€“ itโ€™ll be over Friday,โ€ Town Administrator Rodney Bartlett said.

The maintenance project began Wednesday after some confusion about a start date. Police Chief Guinard said after the road was closed for preparations on Monday there were very few issues, according to Bartlett.

The traffic-heavy stretch of road will be closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and Fridayย and the plan is for work to be completed before the weekend.
