The town of Jaffrey is looking to incorporate more technology into meeting operations so more people can be involved.
The Select Board heard from Planning and Economic Development Director Jo Anne Carr at its Monday board meeting about the success of using Facebook Live during last week’s master plan forum, a tool that can be used to gain more involvement at future town events and meetings.
“I know the board has been thinking about starting a Facebook page for the town,” said Carr. “On the Facebook post, I was seeing a lot of names of people that I don’t normally see at meetings.”
The board did acknowledge that a Facebook page is in the works, and could be started in the near future. Town Manager Dave Caron said he is working to solicit two bids from companies to make it possible to record and live stream meetings held at the town offices, bids he hopes to deliver to the board for a vote in the next meeting or two.
“We are looking at having one stationary camera so we don’t need an operator,” said Caron, in an interview Wednesday morning. “There will likely be a number of microphones to pick up sound from the board members and the audience.”
After holding a public hearing with no audience, the board voted to approve a resolution to the town’s municipal code that will allow for a small loading dock to be placed on North Street, which will primarily be used for handicap access.
The loading zone will be on the westerly side of North Street beginning approximately 150 feet from the intersection of Main Street.
