Rocky Meadow Farm has announced its recertification by the Animal Welfare Approved program of Marion, Virginia. This certificate of compliance is awarded after a day-long inspection of animal care practices and records of farm operation through AWA veterinarians. The certification has been held by the farm since 2014 and is awarded every two years.
Rocky Meadow Farm, which was established in 1991, raises Galloway cattle for grass-fed beef. The herd of approximately 40 head are rotated frequently to fresh pastures and receive no hormones, antibiotics or other additives to their diet beyond natural minerals.
