FPU  freshman cross-country runner Aidan Gilbride has been named Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the week for the week ending on Sept. 4, as announced on Tuesday afternoon by the Conference office.

In his collegiate debut last Friday, Gilbride finished 19th at the season-opening Mount St. Mary’s 5K duals. Gilbride ran the 5K course in a time of 16:10.0, which put him third among the Ravens running at the event. His performance helped Franklin Pierce to a 1-2 record at the dual meet, which was good for third place among four teams competing.

The Ravens return to action on Saturday, Sept. 10, when they travel to Northampton, Mass., for the Smith College Cross Country Invitational.

Junior goalkeeper Meaghan Williams  of the Franklin Pierce University field hockey team has been named Northeast-10 Conference Goalkeeper of the Week for the week ending on Sept. 4, as announced on Tuesday afternoon by the Conference office.

Williams played every minute in goal last week, as the Ravens opened their 2016 campaign with a pair of shutout victories. On Thursday night, she stood tall by piling up nine saves in a 1-0 win at Bentley. Williams was less busy in Saturday afternoon’s home opener, but stopped both shots on her cage in a 3-0 win over Mercy.

The back-to-back shutouts were the fifth and sixth of her career, as well as the 18th and 19th wins of her career, leaving her just six wins behind the program record held by Brittany Nyzio ’12. Dating to the end of last season, Williams is currently riding a shutout streak of 146:17.

Franklin Pierce men’s soccer midfielder Jacob Blixt has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Co-Rookie of the Week Tuesday afternoon by the conference offices.

In his collegiate debut, Blixt led the crimson and grey to a 5-2 victory over non-conference opponent Bridgeport Saturday afternoon with a hat-trick (three goals) and an assist. The win was the Ravens first of the season.

Blixt and his teammates return to action on Saturday with an away match against non-conference foe Molloy at 7 p.m.

Franklin Pierce women’s golfer Camden Morrison has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Golfer of the Week while teammate Rosa Jones has been named the Rookie of the Week, it was announced Wednesday morning by the league offices.

Morrison led the Ravens to a first place finish at the annual FPU Fall Invitational with a collegiate best score of 69 (-3). Her score was also good enough for a first place finish in individual competition.

In her first ever match, Jones shot an 84 (+12) which put her in a three-way tie for 10th place.

The Ravens return to the course on Sunday at Gannon in Erie, Pa. for day one of their two-day competition.
