The ConVal cross-country teams got their season going on Tuesday in Kingston at the Jamie Martin Invitational.

The boys’ team finished 9th out of 15 teams and were lead by sophomore Ben Henry, who placed 37th out of 212 finishers in a time of 18:30. Evan Coyne and Oliver Ellerkamp were close behind finishing 2nd and 3rd for the team. Newcomers to the program Casey Burgess and Liam Gilligan rounded out the top 5.

The girls’ team started the season on a high note claiming the top spot over all 14 competing teams, winning by over 30 points. Clare Veverka, Lucy Freeman, and Schuyler made up a strong top three finishing 2nd, 7th and 8th respectively. Sawyer Cawthern and Hailey Doherty, Marina Macmahon and Leah Danforth rounded out the top seven placing in the top 30 in a field of over 120 runners.

In addition to these highlights both teams saw a number of outstanding performances and personal bests. The team heads to Hollis-Brookline this Saturday.
