For a journey back to the Industrial Revolution, look no further than the Dublin Gas Engine Meet.

Celebrating its 45th year, the gas engine meet will showcase antique, vehicles, tractors, and gas and steam engines this Friday through Sunday.

“It’s a good, fun day full of fun for the whole family,” said Chris Staples, who is on the Board of Directors for the event. “A lot of shows try to gear everything to the exhibitors, but we really try to get the public to come out.”

The event is open 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. daily and features a parade on Saturday and Sunday at noon.

Admission to the event is $5 per person, with children 16 and younger are free. The event is held rain or shine.

A number of antique gas and steam engines will be in action over the weekend, bailing hay, shucking corn, making cedar shingles, and more.

“Most of the exhibits are geared toward mechanical agriculture,” said Staples. “There will be a lot of working displays at the meet so people can see how they work.”

Additionally, there will be a flea market on site, offering a number of antiques and tools to purchase. Staples says the fleas market makes up about one third of the event.

Staples said most of the items for sale are related to the show, but some vendors bring generalized antiques for the general public.

There will also be food, such as hamburgers and hotdogs, and kid friendly areas, which includes a sandbox.

“This is a great event, and it’s always been a part of my family and my blood,” said Staples. “This is one of the largest shows in New England.”

The Dublin Gas Engine Meet is located on Route 101 in Dublin, across the street from Old Peterborough Road and about a half a mile east of the intersection of Routes 101 and 137.
