Steve Hathaway, the first Franklin Pierce baseball player to play in the major leagues, continued his storybook season this weekend, appearing in two games for the Arizona Diamondbacks at Fenway Park against the Boston Red Sox.

On Saturday, Hathaway entered the game for just one batter, striking out Red Sox rookie Andrew Benintendi.

On Sunday, Hathaway came into the game in the bottom of the 6th inning after the Sox shelled Zack Greinke and a host of other D-Backs pitchers. Hathway retired the side in order, as Dustin Pedroia flew out, Brock Holt struck out and Mookie Betts, whoโ€™d already homered three times in the game, flew out.

Hathaway now has a 3.52 ERA in 7.2 innings pitched in the major leagues, with six strikeouts.

A 14th-round draft pick in 2013, Hathaway was a member of the Ravens’ 2013 NCAA East Regional champion squad. In his first season at Franklin Pierce, he earned Northeast-10 Conference All-Rookie Team honors in 2011.
