Proud to endorse Lee Nyquist

To the editor:

Civility. Respect. Promoting the best interests of New Hampshire’s working families. These have been my guideposts in the N.H. House. These are also the values and policies embraced by Lee Nyquist, Democratic candidate for State Senate (District 9). Therefore, I am proud to endorse him in the upcoming Democratic primary in September.

Lee is a longstanding proponent of raising the minimum wage and understands that no one in New Hampshire should be working for $7.25 per hour in 2016. He stands firm against pay and gender discrimination. He has been a member of the N.H. Workforce Investment Board, matching workers to employers, thereby improving job retention and increasing wages. He also chairs the New Hampshire’s advisory board on unemployment compensation, where he promotes compromises between representatives of business and labor.

Lee Nyquist’s approach is to be “principled but pragmatic.” He advocates fairness and equal opportunity as crucial to promoting the interests of working families and will work with anyone dedicated to promoting the common good, even those with whom he often disagrees. Years as a certified mediator and as a town moderator have prepared him for working in the Senate, where collaboration and civil discourse are keys to success.

I firmly believe in the necessity of working to secure the future of New Hampshire’s working families through education, workplace fairness, and the promotion of a reasonable minimum wage. Lee Nyquist walks the same pathway, and I am therefore proud to fully endorse him as the best Democratic candidate to defeat the extremist Andy Sanborn in November.

Please join me in voting for Lee Nyquist for the N.H. Senate in the September Democratic primary.
