Lifelong Peterborough resident Jim Grant recently met in Washington D.C. with Sen. Kelly Ayotte, who presented him with a Congressional Record statement Ayotte submitted in recognition of Grant’s service to New Hampshire.
“It is an honor to recognize Jim’s incredible service to his hometown Peterborough, the entire Monadnock valley region and the rest of our state,” said Ayotte. “Jim’s record of service includes being the longest serving firefighter in Peterborough, being a teacher and volunteering for the Salvation Army. He exemplifies the Granite State values of generosity and helping out neighbors in times of need.”
Grant and his wife Lillian live in Peterborough, where he has served as a volunteer firefighter for 53 years. Today, Grant works as a teacher at the organization he founded, Staff Development for Educators. He has also been involved in several service organizations, including founding the Monadnock Workspace and co-founding the Peterborough Sunshine Fund.
In her statement for the Congressional Record, Ayotte noted that Grant “is proud of his roots, which are represented on his vanity license plate with the phrase ‘LUVPBRO.’
In addition to being well-known and beloved by his neighbors, Jim epitomizes the spirit of generosity in New Hampshire.”
