Mascenic Superintendent Ruthann Goguen is one of three finalists under consideration to become interim superintendent in Nashua, according to the Nashua School District.

Goguen has headed the Mascenic Regional School District for the past three years, taking over for Interim Superintendent Betsey Cox-Buteau, who held the position for a year after the departure of the previous Superintendent Leo Corriveau.

According to an announcement of the list of finalists on the Nashua School District website, Cox-Buteau, who is currently the superintendent of schools in Fremont is also a finalist for the Nashua position, along with Matthew H. Malone, a former superintendent who most recently served as the Secretery of Education in Massachusetts. The finalist chosen will fill the slot being left open by the Nashua district current Superintendent Mark Conrad, who has resigned his position effective in mid-August.

Goguen was scheduled to attend a meet-and-greet for all three finalists at Nashua High School on Monday, during the Mascenic School Board’s regularly scheduled meeting. During the meet-and-greet, finalists were expected to address attendees as well as meet them individually. Following the meet-and-greet, residents were expected to comment on their finalists to the Nashua School Board during a public hearing.

Goguen did not return a call requesting comment by press time on Monday.

Nashua district officials will meet Wednesday to discuss a final candidate for the interim superintendent position.
