An exhibit titled “Summer Job: Learning with the Permanent Collection” will open at the Thorne-Sagendorph Art Gallery at Keene State College on Friday, June 17.

This summer exhibition will include painting, photography, and works on paper from the Monadnock region and far beyond that are part of the Thorne Gallery’s permanent collection. Featured artists will include: Milton Avery, Gifford Beal, Romare Bearden, Rockwell Kent, Alice Neel, Gregorio Prestopino and Andy Warhol. The show and the related events are designed to invite reflection, discovery and commentary about this collection and about the summer season.

Events related to the exhibit include an opening reception on Thursday, June 16, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public and will feature live music with musician Jim Butler.

A wading pool party and gallery tour focused on water imagery will be held on Wednesday, June 22, from 1 to 3 p.m. Bring a towel.

A Tour de France mountain stage live screening and gallery tour focusing on landscape conventions will take place on Bastille Day, Thursday, July 14, from 10 a.m. to noon.

The exhibit will be on display through July 24.
