The Boynton softball team ended their season last Friday in Epping, walking away with their heads held high in second place. It was the fifth year in a row facing Epping in the last two rounds of the playoffs.

Once again the Blue Devils were explosive at the plate, but not without some amazing plays by the Lady Bulldogs. Emma Knisley started the game off with a line drive catch at short and made 5 total fielded outs for the game. Alannah Johnson had two outs beating the runner each time with her throws, but the outfield each made some spectacular catches as this was where Epping continuously hit.

Brynn DePauw and Shannon Wooster each caught a deep fly, while Tori Cardinal seemed to come out of no where and make two line drive snags, taking away some of Eppingโ€™s fire.

Offensively, Boynton made contact, but hit right at Eppingโ€™s defense, which didnโ€™t allow any runs. Shelby Babin had the first hit of the game, solid to left. Kelly Zwicker hit to right in the second, followed by Johnson who singled up the middle. Boyntonโ€™s final hit was Allison Adamsโ€™ shot to center, but again was left on base in scoring position.

This was the first game all season that starting pitcher, Samantha Hughson wasnโ€™t able to earn any strikeouts, but did help her teammates knocking down balls hit up through the middle for an out or leaving the Blue Devils on third.

The game ended 12-0 and the Lady Bulldogs traveled back to Boynton to end their season with pizza and some sliding fun.
