It was an up and down season for the ConVal girls’ lacrosse team, but it ended with an ice bath for head coach Derek Sorbello as the Cougars took down Derryfield in Friday’s senior night game. “All the seniors really stepped up today,” said Sorbello. “It was just a great team effort. I could not be prouder of how the entire team played. I couldn’t be happier for all of our seniors to go out with a win like that.” Derryfield came into the game at 12-2, with their only losses coming at the hands of No. 1 Laconia and No. 3 Kearsarge. ConVal took the lead early and held off Derryfield most of the way. “From the first draw, Sierra Tracy set the tone that they weren’t going to back down,” Sorbello said. “Her intensity was critical and carried over to the whole team.” Derryfield took a brief 7-6 lead but ConVal came back for a 10-8 win. Briana Jones (senior) had 4 goals, Lily Sheridan (sophomore) had 3 goals and 3 assists. Sarah Kolk (senior) 1 goal, Sam Worobey (senior) 2 assists, Grace Bowman (senior) had 1 goal and 1 assist. The Cougars finished the season at 6-8, one win away from the final DIII playoff spot.
