The ConVal boys’ and girls’ track and field team competed at the Division II state championship at Portsmouth over the weekend.
The girls’ team finished 12th with multiple top ten finishes on a hot day. In her first year running track, sophomore Madeline Garland finished 9th in the 400m dash. Lily Pabo finished 6th in the pole vault. Ree Bell finished 6th in the shot put and fellow thrower freshman Savanna Hall was 4th in the discus.
Freshman Clare Veverka was third in the 3200m run, guaranteeing her an entry in next week’s Meet of Champions.
The boys’ team finished 17th. Daniel Kashulines was 6th in the 400m dash. Dalton Coyne had a big PR in the 800m run, finishing 5th overall, covering the half-mile distance in just over two minutes. Liam Baldwin placed 7th in the triple jump.
Final Meet of Champions qualifiers will be posted mid-week.
