Running a small business in the Monadnock region has its pros and cons.
And a panel of local businessmen and women spoke to that experience during a Community Conversations event Tuesday. The event focused on how to best spread the word that buying local is both good for the consumer and the community.
And in the end, said Jen Risley of Monadnock Buy Local, small steps can reap large rewards.
Crista Tenney-Salamy, owner of Tenney Farm talked about some of her goals.
โItโs about networking and trying to connect with the customer,โ she said.
Other business owners talked about the struggle to balance the money thatโs coming in with the renovations that need to be made in order to grow.
โWe have a small business with a large overhead,โ said Dominique Caissie of Terrapin Glass Studio. The glass blowing studio is located in Jaffrey.
Peter Robinson who has owned Royโs Market in Peterborough for 12 years, spoke about a small businessโs connection with the community. Itโs about the importance of making decisions to support communities, not just businesses, he said.
