What’s in your backpack? Is it anger, disappointment, stress, or a collection of many different things? This election has been nothing more than a negative view on the way we as Americans act.

We are a bunch of little kids who only know one opinion, and that is our own opinion. When we as a society are angry, we speak out in all the wrong ways. Yes, we have the right to be heard, but shouldn’t we do it in a civil, united way? I mean, if I am not mistaken, we are the “United” States. All of these politically involved citizens who think that they need to be extra loud to get their point across are only making themselves look silly. Using your fists, and not your words, is not the way to express one’s emotions.

According to CNN, a man at a Trump rally was arrested after punching a protester. This violence needs to come to an end. According to the website “Why 2016,” if we continue on this path of expressing our anger in a violent way, this election may turn into the most violent election since 1968, when many bloody Democratic-convention riots broke out.

There are better ways to express how one feels. One way is to go out and vote. Vote based on what you feel best fits your personal views on a topic, not someone else’s opinion. We are all our own persons and we get the opportunity and the right to share what we believe in a respectful way. Voting is meant to be private.

I voted and the only person who knows who I voted for is me! I chose not to share that personal information because I don’t need someone else to tell me I am being the wrong me. I have my own opinions and to keep things on a civil level, I keep it private. Be heard, but don’t let someone else speak for you.

Sometimes the best way to be heard and to be mature is to be quiet! Silent screams are often louder than the ones we have been expressing.
