The Jaffrey Civic Center will host New Hampshire poet Patrice Pinette for a reading on Saturday, Sept. 6 at 5:00 p.m. Pinette will share selections from her newly published collection, “Happiness, a Strange Bird.” The event is free and open to all and will include a question and answer session and book signing.

Happiness, a Strange Bird explores the human search for happiness through themes such as intimacy, distance, memory and nature. Pinetteโ€™s poems reflect on happiness as something cultivated from within rather than dictated by external circumstances.

Her reading complements the concurrent Civic Center exhibit “Born of Silence,” curated by Jaffrey artist Joan Hanley, which also explores themes of quiet reflection and natural beauty.
