The inaugural “Movies Under the Stars” series will launch in downtown Peterborough on Wednesday, July 9, at Putnam Park. The free outdoor movie nights will continue through Aug. 28, with festivities starting at 7 p.m. and films beginning at dusk. A rain date is scheduled for July 16.
The four-film series begins with “Moana 2” on July 9, followed by “Mufasa: The Lion King” on July 23, “Captain America: Brave New World” on Aug. 6 and the 30th anniversary screening of “Jumanji” on Aug. 20. Jumanji was filmed in Keene, giving local audiences a chance to spot familiar locations.
Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets. Free popcorn and water will be provided, and local restaurants will offer extended hours and takeout picnic options. Desserts, including gelato and macarons, will also be available.
The event is hosted by the Peterborough Recreation Department and sponsored by State Farm agent Caleb Dupuy and The Optimist Cafe in Jaffrey. All ages are welcome.
Free parking is available downtown and at the RiverWalk lot. The venue is accessible for people with disabilities.
