On June 21, community members and Rindge Chamber of Commerce representatives gathered to celebrate the grand opening of Sharon DiGennaro’s pottery studio and gift shop, The Basket Case, with a ribbon-cutting and open house at the West Rindge Baskets building on West Main Street.
DiGennaro shared her journey from small-town Pennsylvania to Cape Cod, and finally to Rindge. She spoke about the personal challenges she has overcome, including a life-changing head injury from a car accident, and how that experience continues to shape her daily life and creative process. These days, DiGennaro can be found making art or enjoying the company of the river otter “Lydia” in the stream behind the old factory building.
The studio is filled with pottery, fused glass, handmade jewelry and mixed media art. DiGennaro hopes it will also become an old-fashioned community spot. Anyone is welcome to stop in and connect over art and conversation.
The Basket Case is located at 99 West Main St. in Rindge. DiGennaro can be contacted at sharondigennaro1@gmail.com.
