The Park Theatre, 19 Main St., will screen the 2025 Oscar-nominated short films on Saturday, March 1, and Sunday, March 2, Oscar broadcast day.

Animated Shorts will be shown Saturday, March 1, at 6 p.m. and Sunday, March 2, at 10 a.m. The lineup includes โ€œBeautiful Menโ€ by Nicolas Keppens, a stop-motion film from Belgium, France and the Netherlands about three bald brothers seeking hair transplants in Istanbul; โ€œIn the Shadow of the Cypress,โ€ an Iranian 2D film by Hossein Molayemi and Shirin Sohani about a former captain with PTSD trying to connect with his daughter; โ€œMagic Candies,โ€ a Japanese CG film by Daisuke Nishio and Toei Animation about a boy and enchanted sweets; โ€œWander to Wonderโ€ by Nina Gantz, a stop-motion film from the Netherlands, Belgium, France and the UK about TV characters after their creatorโ€™s death; and โ€œYuck!โ€ by Loรฏc Espuche from France, which depicts childrenโ€™s mixed feelings about kissing.

Live Action Shorts will be shown Saturday, March 1, at 10 a.m. and Sunday, March 2, at 2 p.m. The films include โ€œA Lienโ€ by David and Sam Cutler-Kreutz, about a familyโ€™s encounter with immigration authorities during a green card interview, โ€œAnuja,โ€ an Indian film produced by Mindy Kaling and Priyanka Chopra Jonas, about a girl weighing leaving child labor against staying with her sister; โ€œIโ€™m Not a Robot,โ€ a Dutch sci-fi comedy by Victoria Warmerdam, about a womanโ€™s experience with CAPTCHA; and โ€œThe Man Who Could Not Remain Silentโ€ by Nebojลกa Slijepฤeviฤ‡ from Croatia depicting an incident during the 1993 Bosnian massacre.

Documentary Shorts will be shown Saturday, March 1, at 2 p.m. and Sunday, March 2, at 6 p.m. The program includes โ€œIncidentโ€ by Bill Morrison, which uses police footage to examine a Chicago shooting, and โ€œInstruments of a Beating Heartโ€ by Ema Ryan Yamazaki, which follows Tokyo first graders forming an orchestra. Other documentaries cover topics such as ethnic cleansing and poaching.

This will be the eighth time that The Park Theatre has hosted the event. Tickets are $10 for adults and $9 for children 12 and under, seniors 62 and above, students, teachers and active military. Purchase tickets at theparktheatre.org or call 603-532-8888.

The Park Theatre hosting Oscar viewing party

The 97th annual Academy Awards come to The Park Theatre with โ€œOscar Night at The Park Theatre.โ€ The viewing party, which features the ABC network telecast and pre-show, begins with a red carpet open house at 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 2. Admission is free, but a donation to the theater is suggested.

Food and drinks will be available for purchase, including hot and cold appetizers, soup, sweets and champagne, in addition to regular concessions and bar offerings. ParkTV will interview guests live on Facebook, and Diane Ammons will perform movie music on the Steinway piano in the theaterโ€™s Lounge Bar. Raffles will offer prizes such as official Oscar merchandise, books and movie posters.
