Banners, marches, murder, mayhem

To the editor:

The same crowd that finds the Confederate flag such an offensive symbol fails to see that their own Black Lives Matter banner is just as offensive to many in our community.

If black lives really mattered to liberals, they would spend their energies addressing the black-on-black carnage that occurs daily in our inner cities.

A quick google search for “Chicago murders 2016” reveals the sickening scope of the problem: 430 homicides so far this year in that city alone. The police are trying to protect the public, but they can’t do it alone.

Inciting resentment toward the police is counter-productive and will ultimately hurt those most vulnerable.

The answer lies in changing the culture: not ours, but the black subculture that has evolved over the past 50 years, characterized most damagingly by disintegration of the family.

Banners and marches may make some feel righteous. Meanwhile murder and mayhem rage on.
