The New Ipswich Recreation Department hosted a basketball camp for youngsters to polish their skills in the offseason.

During the weeklong camp, youngsters spent two hours a day receiving instruction from Boynton Basketball Coach Dutch Stauffeneker, running drills to strengthen the basics and review drills before the start of school.

The New Ipswich Recreation Department plans to run a similar week-long camp the week of Aug. 22, for cheerleading. Participants will learn sideline cheers as well as a short routine to present to their parents at the end of the camp. The camp runs from Aug. 22 through Aug. 22 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Highbridge Hill Elementary School and is open to children in grades 1 through 4. Cost of the camp is $50.
