ConVal’s annual Hope for Gus basketball doubleheader against Souhegan takes place on Tuesday, Feb. 11 at ConVal. The games are played each year in honor of Gus Dreher, the Peterborough middle-schooler living with a rare case of Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

Aside from the good cause, the games promise to be entertaining. The Cougar girls tip off against Souhegan at 5:30 p.m.; ConVal (4-7) lost at Souhegan (3-7) earlier in the season, but the teams are quite evenly matched. The undefeated ConVal boys tip against Souhegan (4-5) at 7. Last year’s game was an overtime thriller, and the Sabers return with one of Division II’s best players, Matt McCool; watching him battle ConVal’s Mather Kipka is about as good as it gets.
