To the editor:
I appreciate Liz Thomas’s apology for some unfortunate comments that she made toward the gentleman who is circulating a petition to abolish the planning board. I know that I have also said things that I regret, and that it takes a big person to admit it, apologize and move forward. I think that in today’s society, where social media has made us constantly interconnected and people lose friends and jobs over unfortunate comments made at the spur of the moment, that we would do well to accept that great people, who have big hearts and everyone’s best interest in mind, sometimes make mistakes and say awkward things they don’t mean that are taken out of context. I believe that it’s best for all of us to focus on people’s positive attributes, great contributions to their communities, forgive and forget.
