Songwriter, performer Connie Kaldor Bass Hall at the Monadnock Center in Peterborough Saturday, March 16 at 7:30 p.m.
Kandor has been a mainstay on the Canadian Folk scene. She has won Junos, she is the first songwriter to win the Western Literature award and she has been made a member of the Order of Canada. She sings of the prairies, of women, she is irreverent and moving.
Like many prairie girls in the 50s and 60s, Kandor grew up singing in the church choir and listening to Patsy Cline and The Beatles on her record player. But it wasnโt until the 1980s, after four years spent performing with an avant-garde theatre company in Toronto, that Kandor turned to music full-time and was welcomed with open arms by the folk scene.
The is a Juno Award-winning singer has flourished on the folk music scene for over two decades, yet her repertoire of original material blurs musical boundaries, embracing elements of gospel, rock, country and western, folk, bluegrass and adult contemporary.
Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20.00 in advance and $23 at the door. Tickets available at The Toadstool Bookshops and online pfmsconcerts.org.
