Voters in Temple approved the entirety of the town warrant on Saturday, including a measure to change the road agent from an elected official to an appointed position.
“I’ve been asked by a lot of people if I support this, and I do,” said Road Agent Tim Fisk. “In fact, I proposed it.”
Fisk said he hopes to retire in 2019, after his next term is up, and thinks that the Select Board should have the capability of checking into the background and qualifications of candidates for his replacement. By request, voters weighed in on the issue with a ballot vote, with 108 in favor, and 22 against.
Voters also approved the town’s $1.31 million budget, including continuing the town’s agreement to continue police services with Temple. The town also approved purchasing a new cruiser for the police department.
The town also approved a new holiday lighting committee, and was in favor of forming a task force to bring forth ideas for making the town buildings run on green energy with the goal of being 100 percent energy neutral by 2030.
