On Saturday, Nov. 19, 9:45 a.m., Monadnock Writers’ Group hosts nature writer Susie Spikol at its monthly speaker series.

The free event will be at the Peterborough Town Library, 2 Concord St. Spikol is a contributor to the Monadnock Ledger-Transcript and the Harris Center for Conservation Education’s newsletter, Hearsay. She is the recipient of New Hampshire’s Environmental Educator Award, and her writing has appeared in multiple environment-focused periodicals, including Northern Woodlands, Taproot and Minding Nature magazines.

Earlier this year, Shambhala Publications released her nonfiction book for children, “The Animal Adventurer’s Guide: How to Prowl for an Owl, Make Snail Slime, and Catch a Frog Bare Handed – 50 Activities to Get Wild.”

Since 1984, the Monadnock Writers’ Group (MWG) has supported local writers of all genres and levels of achievement. Monthly meetings, held on the third Saturday of each month, bring a variety of writers to the Monadnock region to offer their experiences. In addition, MWG publishes periodic anthologies and “Smoky Quartz,” a semiannual online journal of literature and art.
