Wake up and shower by 6 a.m. Work a 14 to 16 hour day. Get ready for the next day, hoping to be in bed by 3 to 4 a.m. Repeat.
For a group of Franklin Pierce University students and faculty, this was a way of life for about a week over the summer, as they traveled to the Democratic and Republican national conventions.
“We were constantly tweeting,” said senior Amanda Holland, a mass communication major who attended both conventions. “I think I sent 500 tweets in a week.”
Holland was one of three students to talk about her experiences at the conventions to a group of students at FPU on Monday.
“Each of us found a niche,” said Holland, of the dynamic of working with her peers. “I loved socializing. My biggest accomplishment was when I was speaking to someone at a charging station who turned out to be a reporter from the Huffington Post.”
Holland said the days were full of interviews, socializing with delegates and others, and working on various projects and articles, some of which were published in the Boston Herald.
