On Thursday, Feb. 6, “one of New York’s treasured talents” Julian Fleisher brings his unique blend of pop, jazz, rock, and soul to the Redfern Arts Center in a concert dedicated to the year 1975. Fleisher is a pillar of New York’s downtown performance scene who’s been performing for audiences from Lincoln Center to the East Village’s storied Starlight Bar and Lounge for years. A lover of the Great American Songbook, Fleisher’s restless creative spirit carries him across genre, era, and collaborator to explore songs from Prince to Porter, Gershwin to Ga-Ga, Joni to Janet.
Using brilliant and surprising arrangements of hits by Joni Mitchell, The Eagles, Stevie Wonder, songs from The Wiz, Kenny Loggins and Barbra Streisand’s biggest selling album, A Star Is Born, Natalie Cole, Fleetwood Mac and more, Fleisher makes a remarkably convincing case for the unmatched genius of this singular year in music.
Fleisher will offer a one-night-only celebration of songs from 1975 – the very best year in American popular music. Tickets range from $18 to $25 and $7 for KSC students. For tickets, call (603) 358-2168 or visit www.keene.edu/arts/redfern/.
