To the editor:
During his first six months I gave the current occupant of the White House time to settle in and prove himself capable.
Trump has always been a big talkers and a salesman, so I was looking closely at his actions, which unfortunately haven’t measured up to his current job.
In fact I can’t use his name now in the same sentence with presidential because they don’t fit together.
Nowadays I seldom watch the news because it is dominated by on-going outlandish behavior sourced by Trump. I was a former addictions counselor and volunteer fire/rescue first responder for over thirty-five years, so I’ve been an eye-witness to similar human drama, chaos and tragedy.
In my prior work whenever I observed Defensiveness, Denial and Self-delusion – the three big “Ds” – l knew I was at a “crime scene” cover-up.
Healthy functional people have no need to act like that or to blame others and distort and obstruct the truth. Rather they are accountable for their actions.
Also, I can easily spot serious dysfunction by observing the friends and family of a deeply troubled person. There is a conspiracy of silence usually driven by fear – ie, the current Republican Party.
These folks thus become enablers who often say nothing or try to make excuses, rationalize, blame others, and/or attempt to clean up the mounting messes – ie, Fox News.
Trump obviously to me is a very deeply wound human being with several serious untreated personality disorders. He has conned his way to power and he is intimidating others with fear.
And while he’s diverting attention, some of his foxy associates are busy raiding our chicken coops.
Now we are all part of this great tragedy being played out on the world stage. Which reminds me of a profound story.
A young Native American boy asked his grandfather, “Why do some people do very hurtful things to other?” The elder replied “Each one of us has two wolves within. One is brave and wise, thus kind-spirited. The other is fearful, thus mean and aggressive. Each day each one of us makes a choice about which inner wolf to feed.”
Our country is currently being “led” by chaotic dysfunction.
God must still be blessing us — inspite of the mean wolves.
