As part of the town’s 250th anniversary celebration, Humiston Field on Howard Hill Road in Jaffrey will be the site of several historical activities Saturday, July 15, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the same time as the fireman’s muster.
The Jaffrey Historical Society will have an exhibition of artifacts and archival documents important to the town. The society will have old Conant High School yearbooks, town reports, town histories, photos, postcards, maps and artifacts on exhibition. Some surplus copies of these items will be offered to visitors for free. Other publications will be for sale by cash or check.
The Conant Generations table will allow people to register their family as a multigenerational Conant High School graduate. The First Settlers table will help people whose last name matches a list of first settlers in Jaffrey to trace their family history. Information and free membership in the Jaffrey Historical Society will be available.
The exhibition and muster are sponsored by the Jaffrey 250th Jubilee Organizing Committee, the Jaffrey Historical Society and the New England States Veteran Fireman’s League. The event is free and open to the public. Spectators are advised to bring chairs or a blanket for watching the muster, as no seating is provided. Parking will be at the school on Stratton Road, and a shuttle bus will be available for transfer to Humiston Field and back.
Questions may be left on the Jaffrey Historical Society voicemail at 603-598-0120 and will be answered as soon as possible.
