The importance of voting Nov. 3
People in our New Hampshire towns may not realize the importance of voting for candidates for our local and state positions. In fact, our elected officials in these positions have a huge impact on our lives and our children’s lives, including affordable housing, safety and well-being, the quality of public education, and more.
John Hunt, James Qualey and Rita Mattson voted to cut taxes for large corporations again, which takes funds away from state services and raises your property taxes. Since they also voted to eliminate the tax on interest and dividends, it left gigantic holes in the state budget. Their votes against increasing state funding for education sent that cost to our towns. Now, asking for a local tax cap on school spending to make up for it just weakens our public schools. They even helped kill a bill to raise funds to protect our lakes, which directly affects our quality of life here in New Hampshire as well as our tourism economy.
Allen Davis, Rory Lovett, and Tom Hsu would not allow corporate tax cut giveaways that would pass that cost on to you in the form of higher property taxes. They would support our public education. They would value our New Hampshire environment, and they would work for affordable housing.
Right now there is 100% GOP control of New Hampshire’s governor, Executive Council, Senate and House. Please go vote and change this. Vote Democratic all the way down. Fill in every box. Nov. 3 is a very important election day for you!
