A 14-year-old Temple resident suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries in a trail bike crash Wednesday evening on private property in Temple, according to New Hampshire Fish and Game.
Emergency responders were called shortly after 6 p.m. June 3 after a family member reported the crash. Investigators determined the teen was riding a trail bike on family-owned property when he lost control on a straight but uneven section of trail. The rider inadvertently activated the throttle, causing the bike to accelerate and strike a tree.
The teen was thrown from the bike and was found by family members after calling for help. He was transported by Peterborough Fire and Rescue ambulance to Elliot Hospital in Manchester for treatment.
Fish and Game said the rider was wearing a helmet and other appropriate safety gear. Officials believe operator inexperience with a new trail bike was the primary cause of the crash.
Responding agencies included Temple Fire and Rescue, New Ipswich Fire Department, Peterborough Fire and Rescue, the Hillsborough County Sheriffโs Office, Temple-Greenville Police Department and the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department.
