The George Holmes Bixby Memorial Library will participate in New Hampshire Humanitiesโ€™ US@250: Big Watch with a community film screening and discussion on Wednesday, May 6, at 6:30 p.m. at the Francestown Town Hall.

The event will feature a segment of โ€œThe American Revolution,โ€ a new documentary by Ken Burns, Sarah Botstein and David Schmidt. The selected segment, โ€œThe Spirit of Service,โ€ examines service as a core American value, exploring volunteerism, civic participation and public leadership from the nationโ€™s founding to the present.

Following the screening, Dr. Beth Salerno will lead a facilitated discussion focused on the theme of โ€œremembering together.โ€

The program is part of a statewide series of events supported by New Hampshire Humanities and is one of several initiatives planned by the library to mark the 250th anniversary of the United States. Additional programming will include a childrenโ€™s โ€œAmerican Heroโ€ art contest this summer, encouraging young participants to create portraits of individuals they consider American heroes.

The event is free and open to the public, and no registration is required.
