The Jaffrey Civic Center will present โ€œOrganic Abstraction and Improvisations,โ€ a ceramic sculpture exhibition by Alexander Pope, from April 24 through June 6 in Jaffrey.

An opening reception is scheduled for Friday, April 24, from 5-7 p.m. The free event is open to the public and includes refreshments and an opportunity to meet the artist.

The exhibition features recent work inspired by natural forms and processes, including growth, decay and transformation. โ€œIdeas for my sculptural forms come directly from objects that I observe in nature,โ€ Pope said. โ€œThe natural object may guide the initial form and decisions about texture and structure, but once the piece is underway, it becomes more of an improvisation.โ€

Gallery hours are Wednesday through Friday, noon to 5 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is free.
