Stephenson Memorial Library in Greenfield is preparing for a busy season of programs and events.
The library recently launched a Seed Library funded by a grant from Monadnock United Way. Visitors may take up to five packets of vegetable, herb or flower seeds. Program details are available in a binder in the adult fiction section.
The library hosts three book clubs: the Historical Fiction Book Club, which meets the second Wednesday of the month at 4:30 p.m.; Silent Book Club, which meets the fourth Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Reading Room; and Cookbook Club, which meets the fourth Saturday at 2 p.m. Aprilโs selections are โTo the Bright Edge of the Worldโ by Eowyn Ivey for Historical Fiction and โBaking Yesteryearโ by Dylan Hollis for Cookbook Club.
Beginning April 7, weather permitting, the library will host a weekly โWalk and Talkโ book discussion Tuesdays from 9 to 10 a.m. at Oak Park.
Upcoming programs include a vibraphone concert by Rich Araldi on April 11 at 2 p.m. and a genealogy crash course April 21 at 7 p.m. covering research tools such as FamilySearch and Ancestry. The first 10 registrants will receive family tree charts.
The annual Motherโs Day Tea will be held May 9 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a community discussion titled โWhen I Was Young in Greenfield.โ
Willa Coroka will present โBeyond the Bloom,โ a program on supporting pollinators, May 12 at 7 p.m.
The third annual Greenfield Spelling Bee will take place May 30 from 9 a.m. to noon, followed by a seed-saving workshop with a UNH Extension Master Gardener at 4 p.m.
Other upcoming events include a Buy Nothing Yard Sale June 7 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Puzzle Palooza June 20 at 2 p.m., and the first Sparkler Sprint 5K at Oak Park on the Fourth of July, with registration at 7:30 a.m. and the race at 9 a.m.
Planning is underway for Greenfieldโs Fourth of July celebration, marking the nationโs 250th anniversary. Residents are welcome.
Later summer programs include โSheryl Faye Presents: Abigail Adamsโ on July 13 at 6 p.m. and a Greenfield Department Head Panel July 30 at 7 p.m.
