On March 14, the Jaffrey Town meeting will be held at the Pratt auditorium. Jaffrey town residents will be asked to vote on a warrant article supporting the Town of Jaffrey leasing a section of the former Town Office building. The Jaffrey Historical Society, established in 1958, is interested in leasing this building. When Marion Mack Johnson built the Jaffrey Civic Center in 1965, she designated the basement area as the home for the Jaffrey Historical Society, which has operated from that space to the present day. It still serves as the home for the Society but is greatly lacking in space. Sadly, the space is not accessible to handicapped visitors. As a member, former director and archivist for many years, I know and understand the need to preserve our valuable artifacts and documents. The new location will provide visibility, accessibility and the storage of the Society’s collections. Please join me in supporting Article 17.
