Nova Arts will host an evening of experimental and contemporary music Saturday, Jan. 17, featuring European percussionist and composer Bex Burch alongside Keene State College alumna Tori Young.

Doors open at 7 p.m., with music beginning around 7:30 p.m. The show, at 48 Emerald St., Keene, is open to all ages, with first-come, first-served seating.

Burch, a U.K.-based composer, percussionist and producer, is known for what she calls โ€œmessy minimalism.โ€ She completed an 18-month instrument-making apprenticeship in Ghana in 2008 and continues to build and perform on handmade xylophones. Her recent work expands on her improvisational and compositional practice, blending custom-built instruments with experimental soundscapes.

Young, a percussionist, composer and singer, graduated from Keene State College in May 2025, where she was named both Presser Scholar and Instrumentalist of the Year. She has performed with the Keene Chamber Orchestra and the Windham Philharmonic, and has worked with the Boston University Tanglewood Institute, most recently as manager of the Young Artists Orchestra. She currently serves as front-of-house manager at Keene State College and plans to pursue graduate studies in music theory.

Nova Arts will also host an open mic night Thursday, Jan. 15, from 7 to 9 p.m. in partnership with Keene Mutual Aid. Sign-ups are available online.

Access for All tickets are available for both events with support from Savings Bank of Walpole. Tickets and additional information are available at novaarts.org/event.
