A locally-owned business is a total loss after a fire Wednesday night in Antrim.

Bottom of the Hill Garage, an auto repair shop owned by Breton Flagg and Hannah Kulbacki, was destroyed in a fire that started around 10:00 p.m.

Neighbors of the business saw flames and alerted the fire department.

According to the Antrim Fire Department, no one was in the garage at the time the fire broke out. One firefighter suffered minor facial injuries.

The building, which was built in 1861, was about 1,860 square feet and contained what the Antrim Fire Department described as a “heavy fuel load.”

“We typically do not have good outcomes with garage fires because of the fuel load,” said Antrim Fire Marshall, Marshall Gale.

Firefighters reported that roof of the building had already partially collapsed and that flames were visible when the first responders arrived on the scene.

According to the Antrim Fire Department, water was sourced from two hydrants and several pressurized tankers, and additional departments were called in to rotate crews in and out as they fought the blaze.

The department reports that while the investigation is ongoing, the cause of the fire does not appear to be suspicious.

Traffic on Route 202 was diverted for several hours while the fire was subdued.

Antrim Fire and Rescue, the Antrim Police Department the Bennington Fire Department, , Deering Fire Department, Francestown Fire Department, Hancock Fire Department, Hillsboro Fire and Ambulance, Peterborough Fire and Ambulance, and Stoddard Fire and Ambulance responded to the fire.
