Do not write-in Amanda
Democrats, for the love of all that is holy, please do not write in Amanda for the N.H. State Representative seat. As a progressive Democrat, I get that you are frustrated with Jonah Wheeler. However, your write-in campaign could torpedo our chances of holding that seat in a year when a blue wave could take over the State House.
Here’s how splitting the vote could put a Republican in office. If, say, Jonah wins 28 percent of the vote and Amanda wins 28 percent of the vote, then the Republican opponent could win with anything above 28 percent of the vote. Worse, the newly elected Republican could then cancel out the other Democrat’s vote (assuming Peter Leishman wins), giving Peterborough no liberal voice in Concord for the next two years.
Also, if you’re a big fan of Amanda’s, consider what has happened to other write-in candidates who have spoiled Democrats’ chances – like Jill Stein or Ralph Nader – both of whom have been reviled ever since. In short, she would be better served waiting until the next election.
