Mid-term elections
I believe that the upcoming midterm election may be the most important election of our lifetime because our democracy itself is in grave danger. From the “Gilded Age” antics of the oligarchs in Washington to the Trump enablers in our own New Hampshire state government, we are in a dangerous place. This would not be the case if our state government, the U.S. Congress and the Senate were not aiding and abetting a would-be dictator trying to amass power and wealth. America was never about hatred, destruction, and the aggregation of wealth at the very top; it has always been about building good lives for everyone on the principle of self-determination. We have been generous partners with our neighbors around the world, not arrogant bullies threatening to break up the world order on a whim or steal our global neighbors’ resources. In fact, we need the trust and cooperation of the global community to combat the real challenges of climate change, poverty, and disease. We have become a global menace through the dangerous and heedless words and actions of our president and his administration. I have always believed the American government was meant to serve its people, not create a class of laborers for the benefit of the few at the top. Our people deserve healthcare, affordable housing, good education, and the promise of a future. This will not happen unless we all work to change what is happening both in Concord and Washington. So I urge you to vote for the Democratic candidates who are committed to that change: Allen Davis, Rory Lovett Sherman, Tom Alborn-Hsu, Donovan Fenton, Karen Liot Hill, and Cinde Warmington for State Offices, and Chris Pappas for U.S. Senate and Maggie Goodlander for U.S. House.
