The ConVal High School cross country team traveled to Manchester on Saturday, Sept. 19, to compete in the Manchester Invitational.
Fielding just four runners due to injuries, the girls squad was led by sophomore Josie Laber, who finished 198th out of 247 runners in the Girls Varsity Small School race with a time of 27:13. Berkley Bates, Norah McNamara, and Kate Fraley also competed for the Cougars.
The boys team competed in both varsity and junior varsity events. In the Boys Varsity Small School race, ConVal finished 32nd out of 39 teams. Freshman Ari Pape led the Cougars with a time of 19:32 to place 110th in a field of 263 runners, marking his second consecutive race as the team’s top finisher. In the Boys “B” Junior Varsity race, junior Tom Belcourt led ConVal to a 37th-place finish among 40 teams.
