The Town Hall Theatre will host a screening of the 1915 silent film “A Fool There Was” on Sunday, Sept. 13, at 2 p.m. at 40 Main Street in Wilton.
The melodramatic thriller stars early silent screen icon Theda Bara as a mysterious seductress. Most of Bara’s 40-plus screen appearances have been lost to nitrate deterioration, fires, and neglect, making “A Fool There Was” one of her few substantially complete surviving films.
Silent film accompanist Jeff Rapsis will provide live musical score improvisation during the showing to recreate the original theatrical experience.
Admission is free and open to the public, though a donation of $10 per person is suggested to help support the ongoing silent film series.
