Ashlyn Beckmann scored three goals to lead the ConVal Regional High School girls varsity soccer team to a 6-1 victory over Manchester Memorial High School on Sept. 4, helping the Cougars bounce back from a season-opening loss.
ConVal (1-1) wasted little time setting the tempo following a 7-0 defeat at John Stark on Sept. 2. Gia Lothrop put the Cougars on the board in the fifth minute, scoring off an early attack to take a 1-0 lead. Beckmann extended the advantage in the 23rd minute, sending ConVal into halftime with a 2-0 cushion.
Beckmann struck again just two minutes into the second half to double her tally and stretch the lead to 3-0. In the 65th minute, Khloe Rusin capitalized on a loose ball in the penalty box, slotting it home.
A wild stretch of action in the final two minutes featured three additional goals. Beckmann completed her hat trick before Manchester Memorial broke through to erase the shutout. Larianna Trudel sealed the scoring for ConVal, converting a left-footed shot in the closing moments to secure the 6-1 win.
