The Town Hall Theatre will host a screening of the 1926 silent film “Son of the Sheik” featuring live musical accompaniment on Sunday, Aug. 9.
The screening of the film starring Hollywood icon Rudolph Valentino begins at 2 p.m. at 40 Main St. in Wilton. Admission is free and open to the public, with a $10 per person donation suggested to support the theater’s silent film programming.
Silent film accompanist Jeff Rapsis will perform an improvised live score during the movie, creating a musical accompaniment in real time based on audience reactions and scene dynamics.
“Son of the Sheik,” a sequel to the 1921 romance “The Sheik,” features Valentino in dual roles as a father and son. Released shortly after his death from peritonitis at age 31 on Aug. 23, 1926, the picture stands as the actor’s final film performance.
