The Elmwood Station Band will perform a free concert of traditional New England and Celtic music on Thursday, Aug. 13, as part of the Hancock Summer Concert Series.
Led by local flute and whistle player Sarah Bauhan, the group will play from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Hancock bandstand on the town common. In the event of rain, the performance will move downstairs inside the Meetinghouse.
The lineup features veteran traditional musicians Jane Orzechowski on fiddle, Tim Mowry on mandolin, bouzouki, and guitar, and Kent Allyn on bass and piano. Special guest vocalists Cosy Sheridan and Charlie Koch will also join the ensemble for select songs.
Named after a former railroad stop in Hancock, the band formed during the recording of Bauhan’s album “Elmwood Station,” which highlights reels, jigs, waltzes, and original compositions rooted in Irish, Scottish, and Appalachian traditions.
The Hancock Farmers and Artisans Market will take place on the common from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., offering food, beverages, local produce, and crafts prior to and during the performance.
