Andy’s Summer Playhouse will conclude its 56th season with the premiere of “The Forest Knows,” a new original musical running Aug. 7 through 15.

Written by Broadway actress Marina Pires (“How To Dance in Ohio,” “On Your Feet!”) and directed by New York City-based director Andie Lerner, the show is an adaptation of Paulo Coelho’s novel “Brida.” The folk-music musical follows Brida O’Fern, a young woman in 1980s Dublin who studies under two teachers to learn the magical traditions of the sun and moon in a quest for self-discovery.

The production features a company of more than 40 actors and technical apprentices between the ages of 8 and 18. Overall, Andy’s Summer Playhouse is hosting 100 young artists across its tuition-free summer programming this season alongside six guest teaching artists from New York City.

Performances take place at the playhouse in Wilton. Tickets are available online at andyssummerplayhouse.org/tickets.
