The 46th annual Run for the Honey will take place Saturday, Aug. 15, as part of Hancock’s Old Home Day celebrations.
The 5K road race begins at 8 a.m. on School Street, taking runners through Hancock village on rolling, tree-lined paved and gravel roads before finishing at the Meetinghouse on Main Street. A water station will be available around the 2-mile mark.
Registration for the 5K costs $5 for Hancock residents and $10 for nonresidents, with payment collected on race day. Participants are encouraged to register online by Thursday, Aug. 13, at hancock5k.com. The first 100 registrants will receive a free jar of honey. Race-day check-in and registration will run from 7 to 7:45 a.m. at the Vestry next to the Meetinghouse on Main Street.
Awards will be presented to the top three male and female finishers across nine age divisions, ranging from 13 and under to 80 and older.
A free Kids’ Fun Run will follow at 9 a.m. at the bandstand. The course covers a circuit around the town green, and all finishers will receive ribbons. In-person registration for the kids’ event opens at 7:30 a.m. at the Vestry on race day.
